Must consider the patients’ medical history
Any intervention must be beneficial to the patient and meets their expectations
Allow the patient to seek a second opinion
The surgeon will follow up and monitor implants and explain the life expectancy and complications of the implants to the patient
Will not allow financial or commercial interests to affect recommendation
Be honest about skills, experience and professional status
Inform the patient they can change their mind at any time
CPD hours will be used to support role and improve current skills
Routinely monitor patient outcomes and patient feedback
Report any safety concerns to relevant regulatory body
Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients
Follow the 14-point plan preventative biofilm document
Provide clear and accurate information regarding risks of any intervention
Talk about adverse outcomes and set realistic expectations
